Decorations

I'm all for holiday decorations. I generally leave mine up for the month of the holiday...as in, my Valentine's Day deco will be out until March, when St. Patrick's Day will make its appearance.

But....Christmas lights up? Now? Almost March?

Yep- just saw it. Too late in my opinion. Jan. 1 is my personal light cutoff! (I sound so scroogish)

  1. My neighbors across the way have some Christmas lights in their windows--- I thought they moved in AFTER Christmas but I think I'm wrong on that. (We're very close with all our neighbors as you can tell.) At first I thought "they must not realize they still have them up" but then they light them up every night. Admittedly we still have halloween lights strung on the inside of our porch. Pathetic I know. My excuse is they're stapled up and it's hard to get them down. Lame. At least they're not plugged in and you can't see them unless they're on (except from inside the house). Sadly they'll probably be up until we move at which point they'll make their way to the garbage. (I doubt they're safe- don't know if they were even regulated for outdoor use in places with cold temps.)

  2. My neighbors across the street still have lights up that they turn on every night. White lights across the front of the house, red and green lights in their enormous tree in the front yard. this is very weird to me (the concept of putting up lights on your house is a little weird to me anyway, but in February, I just really, really don't get it...although I guess as I think Christmas lights are pointless and have nothing to do with the birth of Christ anyway, I should understand that lights in February are just as pointless, and therefore just as meaningful. Huh. Now I think my neighbors are forward thinking and open minded geniuses.)

  3. I totally agree..... but I guess you never know what people are thinking? or doing?

I know a lady that has a "Christmas" tree up in her home year round. She decorates it for each holiday... it's actually pretty cool... but I couldn't handle that with my kids.

  4. Our Christmas lights are still up on our house (but not on).

We can't drive the big machine back on the grass to take them down until the ground dries out. . . in May!

  6. Ha! Glad this is a problem everywhere! I totally get that many people leave them up year-round, but don't turn them on until the season. But still turning them on? Now? That's the part that gets me!
