Baby Shower!

I'm so behind in my posting... and baby isn't even here yet (only 18 more days!)!

My wonderful friends from Cafe Sabor had a fun shower for me a few weeks ago. It was so fun...sports themed! They were so very generous and we had a great time-- it was fun to get together again because while I don't miss the burrito smell of Sabor, I do miss the fun friends!

This is sweet Mckenna...she is my friend Lesley's daughter...isn't she gorgeous?!

The cute table with sports-themed cupcakes and yummy treats! You can see that even Taci's husband contributed to the decorating with the Bud Light cupcake on the right...haha

LOVE the football field dip!

First game....guess how big my BIG belly is....Becky and I are enemies because her string was sooooo long! haha...

Next came the bottle drinking contest...it was SO hard! No wonder babies are so little...it's hard work to get any milk out of those!

Love this pic of Candice and Philippe....it's like she got confused who should drink the bottle....

Lesley went for the strategy of having Mckenna help out....Mckenna just kept looking around at all of us drinking our bottles so confused!

Cute tiny outfit from Les...it's hard to believe he'll be this tiny!

Look at this adorable diaper cake! I was so impressed that Taci and Liz made it....it was full of diapers, with cute things attached all around- binkies, shoes, a frame, a beautiful blanket that's so soft.... so sweet I didn't want to take it apart..so I made RJ take pictures of it from every angle first

We had a great time, it was so nice of them to throw the shower for us!

Baby Names

Student: "Teacher, do you know what you're going to name your baby yet?"

Me: "Probably William..."

Student: "Oh, I like that....you should either do William or Popeye."

Um...Really?

Just saw a commercial for this....

Really? We are so lazy we can't even rip our own tape from the roll now?!

Baby Shower!

Ok first of all...just noticed that this is post number 201! Wow...

Last weekend we had a baby shower dinner in Salt Lake given by my sweet Aunt Sue for my side of the family. It was so nice to get together- they do a monthly dinner, but we can rarely make it because of the drive. Anyway, it was wonderful-- she made a delicious baked ziti dinner and we all had a great time.

OK I know this is a random picture...but isn't my aunt's house pretty? And look at all of our nice family that came...so fun!

LOVE this monster doll...the colors look great in the baby room, on the brown glider. And love the eye and mouth...

Look at all the great stuff we got...clothes, a sweet diaper tote, and lots of goodies.

My cousin and her husband got us this cute beanie set with booties and mittens...can't wait to see baby in them!

We're so excited for all these books...the classics. I LOVE Mary Engelbreit art, so I'm especially excited for the Mother Goose and Nursery Rhymes books. And every child needs Dr. Suess!

My mom made this sweet plate to hang on the wall with the classic "Children Learn What They Live..." My mom always gives very thoughtful gifts that we'll enjoy for years to come and that mean so much.

My sweet brother Paul made this piggy bank for baby....let the college savings begin!

Love his sweet message on the bottom...It's weird for me because my brother is 9 years younger than me, so I feel like he should still be a baby himself. I can't believe we're all old enough to be aunts and uncles...time flies...

Ha...we all loved this gift! My brother Nick and his girlfriend Jessica gave their new nephew a leather jacket, matching leather boots, and a rockstar blanket! This is going to be one hip baby!

My aunt is SO talented and made this beautiful blanket. It's a cream color and has these sheep all over it. It's so amazing, I'm nervous to even use it. It's folded and safe in the dresser for now...too nervous to let the cats get their claws near it or let baby spit up on it. Maybe it can come out for pictures and special events...maybe....or maybe it'll go in a frame. It's seriously gorgeous...

It was a great night, and we really are so thankful for such generous family. We have been given so many wonderful things- from the necessities to the fun extras that we'd never be able to afford on our own. Just can't wait for baby to get here to enjoy it all!

See the ticker to the right?!

36 weeks!!! That means baby is full grown and just putting weight on these days...which I assure you is a process I am taking part in myself! I may or may not have had Coldstone for dinner...the last two nights....

Anyway...This means baby could come at anytime! But realistically probably won't for at least a few weeks. We're totally ready at home. We have what we think is SO many diapers, but I'm sure won't last nearly as long as we think. We have more clothes than this kid could possibly wear. We are even taking the Jazz jersey to the hospital for coming-home pictures. This kid is destined to be a fan from the very beginning....even if the jersey is size 2T! It'll just be a blanket over his tiny onesie at first. School-wise I'm still a tad stressed...I just want to make sure everything is totally ready for my sub so that the transition goes well on her and my students. My sub comes very highly recommended so I'm sure things will go great. I just want to get it all ready so that I can just be home with my little family and not worry about a thing at school. Almost to that point! Getting so excited for him to get here!

This Generation....

I've had a few eye openers lately about how tuned in to technology my students are, despite their young age.

Yesterday we were doing a fact and opinion game...and one of the questions asked if it was a fact or an opinion that Abraham Lincoln's birthday is on February 12. The kids decided it was a fact, and I asked if we wanted to prove it where we could look. I was looking for an answer like....our social studies text, the library, the calendar....but I got from about 5 kids: "Google!"

And it's true...we all would just check Google!

Speaking of the technology that is around and changes so fast...check out this cool YouTube video. (I know, I know...I'm totally not a fan of posted videos on blogs...but if you have the time, it's worth it. I think.)

Ellen?

I like Ellen ok....but I just don't think being an Idol judge is a good fit. Paula was funny without even knowing she was funny (have you seen her clap?! and her outifts alone are worth seeing...remember the bird-looking thing on her shoulder?!) Thoughts?

Ahhhhh!

Remember how soon I am due? Starting to freak out....and instead of being productive, spending time online blogging...totally smart.
