And...More Christmas...

Let's play Where's Waldo...Will-in-the-presents style....

Part of Christmas

I'm overwhelmed by all my Christmas pictures to try and do a post. So...a little at a time! Here's Will on Christmas in his cute outfit...and my favorite hat ever!

Will meets The Grinch...

This was only about ten minutes after meeting Santa...please notice the change of clothes. Apparently Santa traumatized Will more than we thought because the use of the diaper bag outfit (which is much less festive :( ) was necessary....

Will's First Christmas

Poor kid...let the themed pictures begin! Pretty sure I already have enough for a post everyday this week, and it's not even Christmas yet!

First...this poor kid's mom found these horrible reindeer antlers at the dollar store! Originally they were purchased with Dizzy in mind...when she hated them, we resorted to Will! Please excuse all the raffia on the floor...this was in the midst of the gift wrapping mayhem!

Love this commercial....

OK so I know this has been blogged a bunch...but I get this song stuck in my head, and I think the kids are so cute....

Ha...then there's this one....These guys may need more to do to avoid mocking Gap commercials, but alas, it is funny...

Diet Coke Addict

The red flags of addiction came flying today...

First, a little student came proudly into class today.
Handed me a candy cane.
"Merry Christmas teacher!"
Walks a few more steps....turns around...
"Teacher, don't worry...I have chocolates and a Diet Coke in my bag for you too!"

Then later....A student needed a copy of a word puzzle. I told him to write me a post it to remind me. Later I walked back to my desk and found this:
I said, "Why did you put the note there?"
Student: "Because I knew you'd see it on your Diet Coke!"

School Lunch

Student, looking at the school lunch menu for the day:
"Teacher, why is rotten pasta for lunch?!"

Me, checking the menu: "That says rotini pasta..."

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Uh oh....

In my class we have a "bathroom monitor" to make sure all goes well with hand-washing, not playing, etc. in the restroom.

Today, the monitor from the boys' restroom came out and reported that one little guy was humming loudly.

I pulled him aside and said, "The monitor said that you were humming in the restroom."

Him... obviously horrified: "I was NOT! I was NOT doing that."

Me: "Ok, go ahead and get back in line."

He got back in line with a disgusted look on his face, looked at his friend and said, "Mrs. Cox said I was humping in the bathroom."

YIKES!

Me: "No no no! HuMMing, humming, humming!"

Awkward.

Kids Say the Darndest Things....

In one of my reading groups we're reading a book about colonial times. While telling about what people ate and drank, it says that even the children drank beer then.

Student: "My mom drinks like a bottle or two of beer each night. She can't drink any more than that because if she does she can't see very well. Then she has to go to bed because she gets a headache. And she can't go to work the next day."

Dorky

I did something dumb the other day (shocking, I know...) and RJ called me a dork.

Me: "Hey! Don't call me a dork!"

RJ: "It's an acronym!"

Me: "Oh yeah...for what?"

RJ: "Dudette Overly Radical Katie!"

Right....this guy gets himself out of anything....

Ah....

You know how I know that I'm a tired new mom who has gone back to work?

Because I'm going to bed at 7 tonight. Seriously. And I'm SO excited about that.

(But it really is going well....RJ does SO well at home, is an amazing Mr. Mom all around...including cleaning, grocery shopping, and making my lunch....all along with taking care of Will....and school is busy, but good...and Will is great too! But....I need my sleep!)

Two Months!

Can't believe this little guy is 2 months old already! He's sleeping pretty well, we just get up about twice a night. He's making all kinds of funny faces...still has hiccups a lot....and LOVES the bath! His nickname is Mr. Frog....he "ribbits", does frog legs in the tub, and sticks his tongue out real quick like he's looking for flies! So funny...

Nightmare

Totally had a dream that RJ was wearing socks with sandals (flip flops too...gasp!).....

And I kept making fun of him...then I looked down (in my dream, thankfully not in real life)...

And I WAS WEARING THEM TOO!

Yikes.

Getting Teacher's Attention

"Teacher?"
"Teacher?"

"Teacher...teacher...."
"Um...Mrs. Cox?"

"Mrs. Cox!"
"Mrs. Cox!!!"

"KATIE COX!"
That got my attention! Good strategy, student!
How did he know my first name?

We're writing autobiographies in class....as I was modeling how to do the pre-write about the "baby" page....

Me: "When I was born I just had some frizzy blonde hair..."

Back of the room: "Like it is now?"

I'll be breaking out the deep conditioner and straightener...

Gobble Gobble

We had a great Thanksgiving in Salt Lake...Will missed the memo that Thanksgiving was the day of eating....and slept all day....

Will's second cousin Joe got him to eat a little...

We all did a lot of laughing....

Emily looked shocked about babies....

And Will slept some more...

Jingle Bells...

While Will did this...

And this....

And Miss Kitty did this...

I did this...

Totally in the Christmas spirit this year...I think it's because it's Will's first.
We're almost done with all our shopping!

Thursday, November 26, 2009

We're off to Will's first Thanksgiving dinner, and his first trip to Salt Lake City too. Big day! I just read a lot of blogs and Facebook status updates about what people are grateful for...so I started thinking of mine...and the top thing that comes to mind this year is little Will. We're so thankful that he came to our family the healthy, happy little guy that he is!

Fancy Pants...well, shirt and shoes...

Will is Mr. Fancy Pants these days...
in his tie and fancy shoes!

Fast forward 60 years...
here's Will as an old man in his recliner....

Crossing his feet...

And a close up of those cute matching shoes...
only because Amy made fun of me for posting pics of Will's shoes...
