Pictures Digital?

Opinions, please:

I have LOADS of pictures in crates, bins, drawers, books...everywhere.
And I'm not sure what to do with them.
But, what I'm thinking is....

Should I scan them all in and save them on a hard drive?
And if I do, should I throw them away after?

I just feel like they are sitting, taking up space.
Maybe summer would be a good time to take on this project?

  1. I would scan the ones you would be sad to miss having and then put the others in albums or decorative boxes. I also would chuck the ones you aren't attached to. Sometimes there's a deal of the day on photo scanning services, I saw one on Plum District one time. Good luck, it's a big project!

  2. I've been wondering the same thing... I've started scanning some... but they still sit in a box in my closet... it feels weird to throw them away

  4. I'd scan but I'm a pack-rat so I'd likely save a lot of them too. The crappy shots that are bad angles or something I'd get rid of. But if you scan them BACK THEM UP! We try to at least have a DVD burned of them every so often so we don't lose them when our hard drive crashes-- which it has multiple times. I lost most of our engagement photos that way. Happy scanning!

  5. Sounds like too much work to scan them. Although that would be nice to have them scanned I would settle for those old time photo albums with the picture pockets and just put them in my time period. That way you can look at them if you feel the urge but don't have to dedicate your summer (and then some) to the project
