So....Grammar and spelling errors bug me. Top pet peeves: there, their, and they're....to, too, and two....your and you're....alot and a lot....its and it's.....etc....
There are grammatical things I don't know...as in lay vs. lie. So, I've found myself completely rewriting/rewording sentences that contain the word so I don't have to use it! As in, "I want to go lay/lie (?) out in the sun" turns into "I want to go sit in the sun".... Much safer.
I once had a parent of a student in my classroom say that she was a "grammar snob" and it drives her crazy when people make these types of errors. I was always SO nervous to send home any parent letters and triple-checked for mistakes. I just feel like it's a simple way to lose credibility. So...it was pretty funny when she sent a note in about her daughter's absence with an error (I think it was the wrong use of to/too)....but hey, clearly we all make mistakes at times. We'll blame it on being distracted and in a hurry.
So....tonight I was glancing through the previous post when I saw the sentence that said I "through away the rest"....THROUGH?!?! Embarrassing! What I meant was THROW.
Anyway....Oops. Let's blame it on mom-brain, or being tired, or being a teacher and hanging out with third graders all day? Eh....oh well!
