I feel like I need a new blog post....but not sure what to blog about exactly. The fact that I eat everything in sight? My father-in-law even commented on that today. So, I think embarrassment quota is full. Plus, the brownies next to me are calling my name.

I buy a "Life's Little Instruction Book" calendar (the daily rip-off) kind every year. But this year I thought I'd try "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" because I like the books. The calendar's ok...I prefer the other.

Anyway...there are some occasional gems:

The happiest people on earth all have their fair share of low moods, problems, disappointments, and heartache.

And I thought, Amen. Because can't we all think of someone we thought just had it all...the perfect life, no problems, good looking, plenty of money, a good attitude, perfect family, stylish clothes, I mean, everything. we get to know them better we find out that their life indeed has its share of flaws-as all lives do- and they carry on despite that.

RJ's random thoughts

Yes I decided to crash my wife's blog to vent a little about how stupid movies are these days. I just saw a commercial where some people had to sneak into a room that is impenetrable. But Wait!!! There is an air vent directly above the room that is able to fit someone comfortably. If I wanted to get rich i would start a company that made air vents that would not fit humans. I am sure most companies that have secret material with poor building designs would line up around the block.
Phew....that felt good to get off my chest. Maybe I'm just mad because I can't fit in a vent anymore. :( In other news I can't wait for Boozer the Loozer to be gone!
Well I'm done..... blah

Michael over Jake?!? EW. And Wes for that matter. Jillian, quit drinking. It's seriously impacting your decision making skills.

And P.S. I totally think Ed will make a comeback appearance. Hello foreshadowing with his picture on the table.

And how funny was the caution tape/hot tub clip?!
And how gross was Wes introducing her to his band. Blah.
OOoooooohhhh....Jake is coming back! (YAY!)

Today was what truly felt like the first day of summer! Up until now since school got out, it's been rainy everyday.

So today was spent at the pool....magazine, diet coke, and ipod in hand! Bliss.

Then, hot dogs and corn on the cob for dinner...bliss continued!

Here's to summer!

Fathers Day

Although Baby Cox isn't quite here yet, RJ deserved his first Fathers Day (he is oh so good to Rocky, Miss Kitty, and Dizzy already). Dizzy and I woke him up with pancakes and licks on the face (from Dizzy, not me!).
Then...Baby gave him a present that will be much enjoyed next Jazz season...still will be a tad big for baby, but he'll definitely still wear it.
A fabulous Sex and the City quote:

“When you're young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun. Then, you grow up and learn to be cautious. You could break a bone or a heart. You look before you leap and sometimes you don't leap at all because there's not always someone there to catch you. And in life, there's no safety net. When did it stop being fun and start being scary?”

Last summer I was working at Sabor, standing in the server station when I saw a guy come in and stand in the doorway.

I said to the server next to me, "Hum, I think that's one of my kid's dads..."

Super stunned look from server.

Me: "Oh! I'm a teacher..."

She was new, she really thought I might not a) recognize my child's father....b) "One of my kids..." I'm sure she thought, how many do you have floozy?!

Anyone seen that commercial where the nice looking man on the escalator is approached by a nice woman who says, "I think you're one of my kid's dads..." And he details a wild night in Cancun during Spring Break...But what she meant was kid = student. Hilarious.

And true.

It's a maze in here...

So... this will be a random post, I can feel it already. First of all...RJ just walked in the room and said, "Good news! I've set a new record!" Blank stare from me. "It only took me 30 seconds to get through the maze from the office to our room this time, and I didn't even stub a toe!" Amen. It is a maze around here. No no, not a nice organized one...a messy one. And it's driving me c-r-a-z-y.

The reason for all the hysteria? We're redoing TWO rooms! RJ moved his office into the spare room--it was blah white, and he went with milk chocolate's really pretty and cozy. He also used some spare wood to make an awesome's very orginal and different...and if I could find my camera and cord, I'd show a picture...must be lost in the maze.

And second....Baby Cox will have a super cute (read: time consuming) room when all is said and done. It's kind of a Tiffany's blue-green (but muted), with bead board half way up. Lots of painting, nailing, caulking, putty-ing later....and we're half way done! After a trip to Ikea, it's looking like baby's room will take on a vintage-looking look...I like it so far. He must too, because he sure kicks (or does back flips) a lot...that or he's protesting.

In the meantime, I'm considering charging admission for people to come beat the record time for the maze...anyone up for the challenge? Eh? Just grab a paint brush and wash a load of baby clothes on the way through please. (Oooohhh! Maybe we should go with an obstacle course instead!)

Yesterday RJ and I were driving through the canyon from a fun day in Salt Lake (great stuff at IKEA, lunch with family, a fixed tooth)...

Me: "So, I was thinking, we should.........blah blah blah." (Honestly, I can't remember what I was telling him, but it was fairly important and detailed...)

Him: long pause

Me: "Husband?"

Him: "Oh, sorry, what? I was thinking about how quickly I could reach my camera if we saw Big Foot in the canyon..."

Motherly Advice?

Hi Moms out there...I've began to hit the "Yikes, I'm halfway there and need to start getting some stuff..." mode, and am seeking some advice from those that have done this motherhood thing as I am clearly new to this!

*Bottles....Avent? Dr. Brown's? Others?

*Car seats...been looking at Consumer Reports, as safety is of course the the top priority...also heard that the padding is better on nicer ones (as in, the same brand from wal-mart is different from the same brand at a higher end baby specialty store...)

*Diapers...heard Pampers (or is it Luvs?) Swaddlers are best at first, then Costco is best for the money....?

*Pumps...any suggestions? I think I'll need a good one since I'll need to head back to work.

*I can't decide if I should

OK...apparently my "nesting" is setting in early! My classroom got a serious deep clean last week, we got some painting at home done, and am now consumed with baby stuff for this little guy!

Suggestions, advice, opinions please!

Baby Fun

On Tuesday at school (before the BIG ultrasound), Susan (the secretary) came in with this cute teddy bear and balloons. The card was from my parents and said, "Can't wait to hear!" They are so cute! Susan nonchalantly said, " your parents have any grandkids yet?" you tell!? Love them!

After the ultrasound, we went to dinner to celebrate at Chili's. And...of course we couldn't resist a little baby clothes buying! My child (boy or girl) will be in overalls A LOT! I think they are the cutest I picked those, and RJ picked that cute onesie with lobsters and blow fish all over it!

He stuck his pinkie up for us!

I think this leg looks cool!
We have TONS of pictures-- it was SO cool! The best pics are the 3D ones, but I need to scan those in. More to come! We're SO excited...we even already bought some boy clothes to celebrate!

Boy or Girl?
